I am only going to comment on the two different versions of Judas at the moment. We must always keep in mind the disciples were not perfect. Nor the ones who translated the bible to the King James Version perfect. That is why it is important to get to know God through Jesus's teachings and allow the Holy Spirit to be awakened in us so we can understand what it is that God wants to show us. Personally I believe that the version where Judas purchases the land is the correct version. This is to show us that only bad can come from evil intent. Why would someone show remorse when they knew full well what would become of Jesus when the brought the soldiers to the camp. Why would he have to *kiss* Jesus for them to know who Jesus was. Considering everyone KNEW who he was. When I read the bible, I ask God through Jesus to guide my spirit to the true understandings. Not man's
intrepretation.

Hi Joe,

I appreciate what you are saying and I take no offense if you fear that you have offered some, but I think it still amounts to the same thing. Many people are prepared to reject scripture as a whole because of one (or more) points which they can't substantiate to their satisfaction. "This must be wrong so the the whole thing is flawed. If it's flawed, you can't trust any of it." Or they feel that some of the teaching is hard and doesn't conform to their worldview so they reject the possibility that this uncomfortable part could be truth. I confess that I do consider the Bible as we know it today as the complete, inspired, inerrant word of God. Accounts of Judas' death appear to conflict, so I take it then that it's okay to covet my neighbour's wife? Not at all. Judas died two different ways, so I should reject the bodily resurrection of Christ? Does not compute. I don't understand why there are two accounts. I'm prepared to accept that in some way, whether it's translation confusion or some other way as the above URL suggests, that both are accurate and true. It simply doesn't matter that much. I've read many different valid translations of the Bible and while the sentence structure and words change, the message behind them does not.

The difficult truth about any discussion like this is it doesn't matter what I say. It didn't matter to me what anyone else said before I was saved either. I had to get to that place on my own. The opinions and faith of people I respected had an impact on my allowing myself to go there, but no one will come to the truth through argument, no matter how carefully constructed and persuasive. Frankly, God didn't intend that they should.

Ah, a topic that is always guaranteed to garner some interesting responses. A good choice, Joe. Funny, I was just thinking about the issues raised in this post the other day.

Hey Mike... let me just reiterate that I'm not trying to take that night away from you. I'm just addressing the manner in which the Bible is interpreted.

If you're interesting in reading some more possible explanations, check out this URL:

http://www.tektonics.org/gk/judasdeath.html

And I will just make the point again that just like the Alexandria Library and the second ecumenical council and any other historical hurdle you wish to throw under the feet of believers, I was unaware of any of these issues or scholarly concerns the night I fell to my knees and accepted Christ as my saviour. And I was saved. Then and there, thirteen years ago, I was filled with the Holy Spirit and I have never been the same. Thankfully!

As for the Rapture, Whim, it is described in several places in the New Testament: John 14:2-3, 1 Corinthians 15:49-55, 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17 and 2 Thessalonians 2:1-7 for starters.

It is amazing how little some Christians know their Bible.

The Rapture does not happen in Revelations it became a popular theory in the 1400's when some girl in Scotland had a vision.

In Matthew 27:52 when Christ dies "The tombs broke open and the bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life.
