We have been in Oshawa 4 yrs and I would LOVE to have an outdoor rink to teach my kids to skate. Yes there are ponds, but there are risks. I would be more comfortable on a rink. We want to be able to go on the ice in our boots to teach Durham. There was above mention of insurance and liability for out door rinks....what about safety on outdoor ponds/lakes??? Wake up Durham! Can't remember the street but its directly across from pickering village museum. Its a city owned park so its lit and maintained. We skate there every year. The Whitby fire department has in the past had a rink in front of the fire station on Taunton rd. just east of brock The somewhat sunken rectangle is quite apparent in the summertime, although I am not sure why they no longer carry on this age old family pass time, but does anyone know any firemen or politicians they can ask?
