Of course, our basement is essentially just a concrete hole that we store junk in. The only issue would be if it got deep enough to short out the furnace or some such thing. After all the flooding in Peterborough over the past few years, we have no desire to ever get the basement finished. We did invest in a dehumidifier this year though, to help stave off general mustiness.

Actually Ratty had water in her basement the last time the Patch flooded - so being at the top of the hill unfortunately Joe, is no guarantee (unless you're in the middle of nowhere).

Ratty: I wouldn't wait until you renew your insurance... you can add a rider anytime. But if you live on top of a hill you're probably okay. :-)

Tim: I'll continue to work on it from the inside!

Imagine if CBC Radio 1 Toronto actually cared about what happens beyond the borders of the city! If this had happened in a neighbourhood in Toronto, it'd be on Andy's programme and the 4-6 show for a week. <> <> Ah well, Joe, I continue to wait for the GTA CBC channel to arrive. I'd name it 90.5 Around Toronto.

Well, we've got #6 covered. Still, after all the rain this year, I'm definitely going to ask about flood coverage next time we renew our insurance policy. Hope you find a good contractor soon!
